Balalaika & Choir: The Sound of the Slavic Soul

Long before sheet music reached the villages, Slavic people were singing in harmony. Folk choirs weave many voices into a sound that is at once joyful and aching — passed down at weddings, harvests, and firesides across the generations.

Behind the singers stand the instruments: the triangular balalaika with its ringing three strings, the bayan button accordion swelling beneath a melody, and the gusli plucked in the old style. From lively dance tunes to slow, soulful ballads, you do not need to understand the words to feel them.

Hear it live on our main stage, where our choir and players bring this living tradition to Central Florida.
