In Slavic homes, a meal is never just a meal. Guests are met with bread and salt at the entrance, and the table is loaded with abundance: bowls of borscht, platters of vareniki, crepes, shashlik, grilled chicken, pickled vegetables, fresh black bread, and a steaming teas and uzvar at the ready. To sit at a Slavic table is to be treated like a family. This is the spirit we bring to Orlando: come hungry, come curious, and leave having been welcomed like an old friend.
